The Ember Big Band is based in Elmbridge, Surrey. In 2019 we celebrate our 10th anniversary.
Our band has a wide jazz repertoire which includes many of the popular swing standards of the interwar era, through to modern latin and funk. We have over 20 musicians including alto tenor and baritone saxophones, trumpets, trombones, rhythm and bass guitar, piano and of course drums. We are complemented by impressive vocalists. The band is led by the trombonist and composer, Bill Geldard.
The Ember Players is one of Surrey`s leading amateur theatre groups. We stage two productions a year, always aiming to provide variety for our audiences and fresh challenges for our casts and crews. Since our inception in 1949, Ember Players have notched up over 200 shows ranging from Pinter to panto, Shaffer to Shakespeare, “Amadeus” to “`Allo `Allo!” There have been musicals, one-act play festivals, historical and contemporary drama and many, many comedies. We currently stage our productions at the Cecil Hepworth Theatre in Walton on Thames and for our more intimate offerings at The Ember Sports Club in Esher.
Based in Esher, The Ripieno Choir is a chamber choir of thirty experienced singers, directed by Huw Morgan. We sing sacred and secular music, mostly from the renaissance and baroque eras, and have a penchant for rarely performed or rediscovered music.
Ember Choral is a friendly mixed-voice choir based in Thames Ditton, Surrey which aims to have fun as well as trying to achieve a high standard of singing. The choir does not hold auditions and currently has around 75 members. We give two concerts a year, often with a professional orchestra and soloists.
