These annual meetings could not be held in April this year because of the Coronavirus shutdown but we have been encouraged to hold them now in church (with distancing and masks in place) and on Zoom. Those booking to come to the 9.00 service will automatically be able to stay on unless they specifically tell us when booking that they wish to leave before the meetings begin.
Nearer the time, the newsletter will include agendas and a Zoom invitation reference so that those of you not attending the church service can access the meeting on line. There will be a Zoom facility to ask questions and vote (hoping that technical issues don’t get in the way). For those of you receiving this letter but not having a suitable computer, we suggest that you might ask a family member or friend to use theirs for the morning.
In advance of the meeting the following information is available below and at the back of the church.
1. Election of Church Wardens, PCC members and Deanery Synod representatives
Both of our elected Church Wardens (Jeremy Lancaster and Charles King) have agreed to continue in their roles.
The following members of the PCC have agreed to continue; Karen Bowles, Eric Craig, Ali Cruthers, Cloe Dwelly, Mary Herbert, Joy Tilbury and Gordon Wratten.
Ruth Bruce and Mike Hawkins are standing down this year. This means that we would like to have two or more new members. If you are willing to stand for election please contact Jeremy Lancaster as soon as possible. email@example.com
We do not now have any Deanery Synod representatives and are entitled to have three. If you are willing to take on this important role, please also contact Jeremy Lancaster. firstname.lastname@example.org
2. Electoral Roll
This was updated at the beginning of the year and is at the back of the church. If you are a new or returning member of All Saints Weston and wish to be added to the roll please fill out an application form from the back of the church and let Joy Tilbury know (email@example.com) at least a few days before the APCM.
3. 2019 Annual Report
This is available on the web site with a limited number of hard copies also available in church which have been isolated for a minimum of three days to prevent Covid19.
4. Sides people
The church services currently require two sides people and two people at the entrance taking test and trace names and contact numbers. A list of these volunteers plus those already signed up for ‘normal’ services is at the back of the church and we will take a vote at the meeting to authorise them to continue.
We look forward to involving you in our parish matters in the best way we can despite the unique difficulties posed this year.
With our Vicar, The Revd Shane Woods currently on sick leave, the meetings will be chaired by Churchwarden Jeremy Lancaster.
The Annual Meeting of Parishioners is open only to those who live in the parish of Weston, even if they are not church members or attend church services, and can vote to elect the officers of the church (church wardens).
The Annual Parochial Church Meeting is open only to members of the church on the church electoral roll, and who can elect members of the church coucil (PCC), pass resolutions and vote on substantial issues of the church.
